“Non-spatial sequence coding in CA1 neurons” accepted at The Journal of Neuroscience!

In this paper we show that activity in CA1 neurons in the hippocampus reflects the sequential context of non-spatial events representing a novel mechanism of temporal coding. From our significance statement: “The discovery of this novel form of temporal coding in hippocampal neurons advances our fundamental understanding of the neurobiology of episodic memory and will serve as a foundation for our cross-species, multi-technique approach aimed at elucidating the neural mechanisms underlying memory impairments in aging and dementia.” Links to the full paper will be up on the Publication page of the website as soon as they are available.
